Mayvid Raymond Rose was born to Phillip Raymond and Ethel Stone Raymond in their home in Shelbyville, Ky on July 23, 1927.  Mayvid had one older sibling Phillip Raymond, Jr.

Mayvid grew up on a farm in Shelbyville at the intersection of Aiken Rd and Hwy 53 and walked to school.

She met her future husband, Jefferson Boone (JB) Rose after he returned from WWII.  They were married in 1948 and moved to Louisville, where Mayvid attended Spencerian Business School.  Over the years Mayvid gave birth to 3 children, Phyllis 1950, Nancy 1954 & Tom 1957.

Mayvid attended Okolona Baptist Church for many years and later Walnut Street Baptist.

In 1970 Mayvid lost her father to cancer and her husband to a work related accident.  She never remarried but she had 3 boyfriends over the years whom she outlived.

Mayvid’s oldest daughter Phyllis worked for American Airlines and because of that, Mayvid and Phyllis were able to travel quite a bit around the country including a trip to Europe.

In 1980 Mayvid bought a beachfront condo in Fort Myers Beach where she would later spend her winters after retirement.

Mayvid worked for the Census Bureau, the Draft Board and finally the FDA before retiring in 1990.

After retiring Mayvid would spend her winter’s in Fort Myers Beach FL and come back home to Louisville in the summer.  In the spring of 2005, her son Tom hadn’t heard from her as to when she was coming back to Louisville so he called her and asked her “mom, when are you coming home”.  She hemmed and hawed and finally said “well, I met a gentleman friend, his name is Bob.  I won’t be coming home”.  Mayvid was 78 and Bob was 85.  I guess you are never too old for romance.

Mayvid has never been outspoken about her faith but she clearly has demonstrated her faith in God through exhibiting Galatians 5:22-23, “…the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness and self-control …”.  All the staff at Hallmark House have commented how sweet Mayvid is.  That’s because she is filled with the Holy Spirit.
